She even cuts her hair, which can be seen as the graphically demonstration, the drop of her mask "Ugly Girl" as the characteristically demonstration of all the things that changed to and in Ursula. Additionally a new warm, lovely atmosphere is developing, which drowns the old thronging, uncomfortable and gloomy atmosphere out. But as this can't happen through a single chapter, the auther is trying to create the new atmosphere since chapter 43.
